Accessibility
What we tested, and what we have not.
The Cents Security site is built to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at level AA. That is the aim. Below is what has been checked against it, how, and where the checking stops. Last reviewed on 1 October 2026.
What was measured
Every public page was opened in a browser in both the light and the dark theme, at 1280, 375 and 320 pixels wide, and measured rather than looked at:
- The contrast of every piece of text against the background it is actually painted on. Body text needs 4.5 to 1.
- The contrast of the edge of every text field and menu against the page. That needs 3 to 1, and it was failing until this review.
- The size of everything that can be pressed, on a phone-sized screen.
- That every field has a label, every button and link has a name, and headings do not skip a level.
- That nothing makes the page scroll sideways at any of those widths.
What works without a mouse
Every page starts with a link that skips to the content. Checking a website and reading its report can be done with a keyboard alone: the tabs take one tab stop and move with the arrow keys, anything that opens also closes with the same key, and the thing with focus always has a visible ring around it.
While a check runs, each stage is announced as it starts, and the stage in progress fades in and out so you can see it is still working. A link you have pressed gets the same slow pulse under it when its page is slow to arrive. Nothing else on the site moves without being asked to, and if your device asks for less motion both of those stay still. When something is copied or saved, that is announced too.
What has not been tested
Nobody who uses a screen reader every day has tested this site yet. The headings, landmarks, labels and announcements are there for one, and they have been checked in the browser’s own accessibility tree, but that is not the same thing as a person using it, and we will not say it is.
A report saved as a PDF is a picture of the page. It is not a tagged document, so a screen reader will read it less well than the page it came from. The page itself, or the Markdown download, is the better copy.
An automated check finds roughly a third of what a real audit does. We say that about other people’s sites on the method page and it is just as true of this one.
If something does not work for you
Tell us what you were trying to do and what you were using, and we will fix it or tell you plainly why we cannot yet. There is no address to write to yet. That is a gap, it is ours, and this page will name the address as soon as there is one.
